The spring turkey application deadline is Feb. The spring season is April 10-May 31, broken into two seasons in Northeastern Colorado units. If you are thinking of introducing a son, daughter or grandchild to the outdoors, we actively support youth hunting programs, for turkey to big game. All hunters must purchase a habitat stamp for $10.40. A maximum of four (4) hunters are allowed per turkey hunting reservation slot. Story Creek Outfitters assigns one guide per two hunters for our fully-guided, fall season hunts and one guide per hunter for turkey, lion, bear, muzzleloader, and archery hunts. Adult licenses are $30.87 in the spring and $25.67 in the fall. Youth licenses are available for $16.31 to hunters ages 18 and below, with those ages 16 and below required to hunt with a mentor. At least 46% of applicants drew one of the 200 available tags with zero points needed to successfully draw. Youth tags are good for public or private land in Units 91, 92 and 96, and also part of the Arickaree drainage in Units 101 and 102. Hunters with private land tags may not hunt public ground.Ībout half of youth hunters earned a tag in 2020. Permission is required from landowner before hunting private property. Private land tags in Unit 91 and 92 are over the counter for the entire season. At least 25% of applicants drew out in the second season on private land as their second choice.
There were 175 tags drawn in the first season, with 30% of applicants drawing out with zero points.
Unit 96 offers the only draw tags on private land along the South Platte River. The study found 50% of hunters without preference points drew a tag in the second season in Unit 91. Fifty tags were drawn for the first season with 88% of applicants drawing out at one point. Among the public land adult hunts in Northeast Colorado, Unit 91 afforded the best chance for hunters with lower preference point totals.
